Our service works for you best when you follow our lead.

We know that the world of utilities can be confusing. How do you understand something as intangible as electricity? When you’re using BearBills, though, you’re getting experience. We’ve researched, we’ve talked extensively with utility providers to understand your services, and we’re paying thousands of bills every month. You don’t have to worry about making our service work for you, because we’re constantly doing just that. If something needs to be communicated about your utilities, you will know through e-mail or our website. If you haven’t heard from us, you can trust that your utilities are being covered and your BearBills are being paid.

Our system is very automated, but with the amount of BearBills customers, it may take a day or two for your payment to register with our system or with your bank or credit card. Just keep checking online to make sure all of your information is okay.

Utility bills are different in every area, so watch your trends.

What may seem like a ridiculous bill may actually be normal for your area. For example, an electricity bill in Montana will be significantly lower than an electricity bill in Texas, and an electricity bill in a certain apartment complex may always run much higher than one in a house down the road. The best way of knowing what is reasonable for your bills is to watch them over several months and see how they run. If they stay consistent over several months, that could be normal for your living situation.

Obviously, chronically high water bills could mean a leak, and other high bills could be a warning sign. Also, the first month’s bills can sometimes contain deposits (though we waive some and are working to waive more). Contact your utility provider about usage questions. We’d love to help with costs, but the utility providers are the only ones that can change them.

We wish we could prorate bills, but we can’t.

Because bills are charged monthly, we have no way of breaking them down into weekly or daily charges. If you moved in halfway through the month, talk with your roommates. From our side, there’s really no way we can know how much you should be charged if you move in late. If roommates agree to prorate bills, you’ll have to pay each other back apart from BearBills.

Problems are easy to fix.

If something seems wrong, don’t worry. We haven’t had any problem too big for us. Just let us know as soon as you find an area of concern, and we’ll always take care of you. As long as you’re with us, your bills will be paid and your utilities will continue. We’re happy to fix problems, so know that we’re on your side if something should ever come up.
