BearBills began with a disagreement.
One roommate paid bills for himself and his roommate, but his roommate continually forgot (or did he?) to pay him back.
This sparked a kitchen discussion between the two. Fortunately, these two friends were mature enough to turn their disagreement into something productive (they were business students too, which also helped). As they talked over the unpaid bills, they decided that there needed to be a way that roommates could all pay their own bills without turning to argument to collect from each other.
The discussion turned into an idea, which turned into a business plan, which turned into financial investment, a new CEO, several more employees, and a bill-combining-and-splitting service for an entire university. When 2009 arrived, BearBills was there to provide a simpler way of paying bills to nearby students.
BearBills began servicing Baylor University in Waco, Texas, the alma mater of its creators and beginning team. In one college semester’s time, BearBills grew from a few customers to over 2200 customers in over 750 different residences.
As we learned more from utility providers, other business professionals, customer feedback, and our own experiences, we realized that our service was good, but still had further to go. In the spring of 2010 we launched our new website, with new information and functionality for our customers.
